Earlier this year, the Camp Columbia Historical Association (CCHA ) had the privilege of presenting itself to the Richlands, Inala, and Suburbs History Group.
The Richlands, Inala, and Suburbs History Group is a not-for-profit community organization established in 1996 and incorporated in January 2000. Their mission is to promote the appreciation of local history and diverse cultural heritage within their community and beyond. They focus on the south-western fringes of the City of Brisbane, covering BCC wards of Forest Lake, Jamboree, and Moorooka. The group actively participates in local festivals, provides historical presentations to community groups, and engages with schools by lending display kits and offering educational visits.
Both organizations share a common interest in history, particularly regarding Camp Columbia, situated in the area, and the Wacol Migration Centre, which holds significant historical importance for many local residents.
Collaboratively, the CCHA and the Richlands, Inala, and Suburbs History Group facilitated a presentation in the display units at the Inala Library, with plans for another presentation focusing on ANZAC history in April.
The CCHA was pleasantly surprised to receive a generous donation of $1000 from the History Group. This financial support is essential for sustaining the association’s operations, including maintaining the website and producing the monthly e-newsletter.
The CCHA extends a heartfelt thank you to the Richlands, Inala, and Suburbs History Group for their generous contribution.
